On the Arch community’s theories of support

When I read about Arch on the general web, I see lots of comments about how the Arch community is elitist and rude. I don’t believe this is the case. If we seem rude, you were informed about the rules when you joined the forums. This is not Ubuntu. If you refuse to obey our rules, we have the right to decide not to help you. We ask that you do whatever you can to fix what broke before you ask us.

I realize that I am preaching to the choir, but am saying it anyway.

Math

This isn’t so much an Arch post, but more about programming and GNU/Linux in general. I’m attempting to learn math (again), and learn it right this time. I don’t want to just miss out and do it because I’m forced to, but actually learn the stuff behind it, and learn the advanced math necessary for advanced programming. As for programming languages, I’m looking at learning C and Perl. Any thoughts?

Hello Archers!

Hi Archers! I figured I’d start off this blog on the right foot and describe my current system. I’m running Arch i686 on a HP SR5710F desktop with a HP 2009m monitor. Now on too the good bit: Arch i686 as I mentioned previously, with Musca for a WM. I don’t use GNOME or KDE because I absolutely hate bloat, and prefer UNIX nature to GNOME or KDE nature. My main browser is Chrome (not Chromium), and my terminal emulator is Terminator. I’m an undying fan of Vim, and still don’t get emacs. I’m a zsh user, and aside for that, there isn’t much else.
